Want to get rid of a junk appliance?
Thank the Mayor!

Ha‘iku residents have come up with an effective, albeit scathingly sarcastic, solution to get rid of old appliances quickly.
They thank Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa and ask you to vote for him.
Junk appliances have been appearing around the Kuiaha area of Ha‘iku emblazoned with "Thank you, Mayor Arakawa" and "Vote Arakawa" in red and black spray paint.
Rather than usual weeks or months that the eyesore appliances would sit rusting on the roadside, or an intermidable wait for the next county appliance pick up day, county crews are out in a hurry, usually within a day, to pick up the facetiously labelled white goods.

KAI

Hi, I am Kai. My family brought me to the shelter because they were moving and couldn't take me. I am about 1 year old, a Fox Terrier/Chihuahua mix male dog. I am tan and white and I would make an excellent pet. I was an inside/outside dog and I am housetrained. I would love to have a family to play with.
Wouldn't I make the best life long companion for this Holiday Season? Ask for #75.
