Guided Hikes at Haleakalä
National Park
Park
Naturalists will offer short hikes, talks and park orientation
in the Summit area daily between the hours of 9:15 a.m.
– 1 p.m. from October to December. Visitors are asked
to stop by the Visitor Center
for information on the day’s programs.
Guided hikes into The Nature Conservancy’s Waikamoi
Preserve in the summit
district of the park will be conducted every Monday and
Thursday, from 9 a.m. – Noon. These hikes are limited
to 12 people. Reservations may
be made one week in advance by calling the Headquarters
Visitor Center at 572-4459 between 8 a.m – 3 p.m.
The Kipahulu District provides daily naturalist talks and
walks between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Kipahulu
also offers a range of cultural
demonstrations on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 p.m. –
3:30 p.m. Visitors are
asked to stop by the Kipahulu Visitor Center for information
on the day’s programs.

Your County with
Mayor Alan Arakawa
The
Thursday, Dec. 1 live broadcast of Maui County Mayor Alan
Arakawa’s public access television show, "Your
County with Mayor Alan Arakawa," will be re-broadcast
on AKAKU Channel 53 on Thursday, Dec. 22at 7 p.m. and again
on Friday, Dec. 9, at 8 a.m.
The Mayor’s guests are Department of Liquor Control
Deputy Director Wayne Pagan and Sgt. Barry S. Aoki of the
Maui Police Department.
The hour-long program will discuss will discuss matters
relating to the Department of Liquor Control and safe driving
during this holiday season.
"Your County with Mayor Alan Arakawa," is produced

Haleakala National Park Star
Program
Celebrate
the season with a night of Hawaiian stories and stars. The
Park welcomes everyone to join the park ranger for a winter
Kilo Hökü (star watching) Program on Friday evening,
December 23rd. The program will be filled with winter star
stories and as well as explanations of weather and constellation
changes.
Meet with the ranger at Halaeakalä Visitor Center
near the summit of the park (9400’).
The program will begin at 6:30 pm and will last one hour.
The program will be inside and outside the building,
so dress for very cold evening temperatures (40 degrees).
The Park entrance fee is $10.00 per vehicle for a 7-day
pass, or $20.00 for an annual pass. There is no charge for

Maui Talks TV
Nik-Hil
Productions, in association with Harold William Peltz Entertainment,
announces the eighty-fifth edition of MAUI TALKS-TV,
a live, public-affairs, call-in talk show, on Akaku:
Maui Community Television.
The live broadcast of the Dec. 20 show will be rebroadcast
on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. on Channel 53, and again the
following Wednesday morning, Dec. 28 at 8 a.m.
MAUI TALKS-TV is a weekly, one-hour Public Affairs talk
show, hosted by Nikhilananda, which is broadcast live every
other Tuesday evening. This show is then repeated
the following Tuesday evening and again the next Wednesday
morning. During the live taping, members of the
community are invited and encouraged to telephone into the
show at 873-3430, (888-577-6240 on Molokai and Lanai) and
comment upon various issues of the day.
