The Maui Examiner Community is a free service to the residents of Maui County. If you have an event that you would like to announce, please send your info to classifieds@mauiexaminer.com. Please type "calendar" in the subject field. If submissions are longer than 250 words, they will be edited to fit our format.

October – December

Guided Hikes at Haleakalä National Park

Park Naturalists will offer short hikes, talks and park orientation in the Summit area daily between the hours of 9:15 a.m. – 1 p.m. from October to December. Visitors are asked to stop by the Visitor Center
for information on the day’s programs.
Guided hikes into The Nature Conservancy’s Waikamoi Preserve in the summit
district of the park will be conducted every Monday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. – Noon. These hikes are limited to 12 people. Reservations may
be made one week in advance by calling the Headquarters Visitor Center at 572-4459 between 8 a.m – 3 p.m.
The Kipahulu District provides daily naturalist talks and walks between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Kipahulu also offers a range of cultural
demonstrations on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Visitors are
asked to stop by the Kipahulu Visitor Center for information on the day’s programs.

Maui Talks TV

Nik-Hil Productions, in association with Harold William Peltz Entertainment, announces the eighty-second edition of MAUI TALKS-TV, a live, public-affairs, call-in talk show, on Akaku: Maui Community Television.
MAUI TALKS-TV will rebroadcast its live show recorded Tuesday, Nov. 8, on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. on Channel 53 and again the following Wednesday morning, Nov. 16 at 8 a.m.
MAUI TALKS-TV is a weekly, one-hour Public Affairs talk show, hosted by Nikhilananda, which is broadcast live every other Tuesday evening.  This show is then repeated the following Tuesday evening and again the next Wednesday morning.  During the live taping, members of the community are invited and encouraged to telephone into the show at 873-3430, (888-577-6240 on Molokai and Lanai) and comment upon various issues of the day.

QuickBooks II for Small Business

This workshop for intermediate users will be offered on Wednesday, November 16 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Maui County Business Resource Center (MCBRC) across from iHop in the Maui Mall. A continuation of QuickBooks I, the workshop is designed for new users of accounting records of a sole proprietorship that maintains inventory. Learn how to customize invoices, create reports and practice the payroll functions of QuickBooks. Record sales, receive inventory, and produce balance sheets and profit and loss statements. The small class setting allows personalized tutoring. A follow-up appointment at a nominal fee for customized answers is also available. Sponsored by SCORE (Service Core of Retired Executives) and also presented by Richard Kehoe, the fee for this workshop is $49. For further information, call the Business Resource Center at 873-8247. Starting a Business on Maui

This seminar on Wednesday, November 23 from 12 noon to 1 p.m.at the Maui County Business Resource Center (MCBRC) across from iHop in the Maui Mall, is a free workshop lectured by Anna K. Ribucan of the county Office of Economic Development The seminar covers general information and requirements for starting a business in Maui County. Handouts, Websites and other helpful information included. For further information, call the Business Resource Center at 873-8247. Attendees are asked to bring their own lunches.
