Submissions
If
there is something going on in your community that is controversial,
that other publications won’t touch, or is just flat-out
wrong, we want to hear from you. We like happy stuff too. If
you know of an “unsung hero,” we would love the
opportunity to shine a light on their deeds. We refrain from
publishing “fluff,” however, if you have a really
good human-interest story, we would be happy to review it. Please
include your name, the town you live in, phone number, and e-mail
address with all submissions.
News stories: All news stories must be written
in a journalistic style. Quotes must be accurate and facts substantiated.
We will check all story submissions for accuracy in content.
News stories must be a minimum of 750 words and be accompanied
by 1–3 photos. Please submit stories in a Word document
or in the body of an e-mail. All photos must be JPEG format
and a minimum of 300k.
Sports
and Political: We welcome coverage of significant sporting
and political events. Submission criteria for sports and politics
are the same as for news stories.
Opinion/Letters:
Don’t be scared—speak out! Letters may be up to
250 words, and commentaries up to 700 words. Please submit to
the link below. Be sure to include your name, town you live
in, phone number, and e-mail address.
Upcoming
Events: Listings in the Examiner’s upcoming events
calendar are free up to 100 words. To submit a calendar event,

of an e-mail. Contact info must be included. For calendar submissions
over 100 words, please call 808-572-4097 for prices.
This
Week’s Freaks: As the old saying goes, “truth
is stranger than fiction.” If you have a story about someone
doing something completely idiotic, or know of a really bizarre
incident, we want to know about it. The funnier the better!
Please submit to the link below.
Celeb
Forum: Are you famous? If so, we would like to hear
your opinion, especially pertaining to Maui County and Hawai‘i.
You famous folks need to send your stuff to the same link below
like everyone else. We are also open to interviews regarding
your viewpoint on issues affecting the community and possible
solutions, but fair warning—we really have no interest
in reporting on your next movie or CD. To schedule an interview,
please call 808-572-4097.
Deadlines:
All submissions must be received by 4 p.m.Wednesday of the week
prior to publication. Anything received after 4 p.m. Wednesday
